Who has noticed that Curated Collections are a great excuse to explore an aesthetic?
My current feeling is that each curated collection allows us to first explore an aesthetic in isolation (ie: we act upon whim and make whatever we like)… then to share and refine it with you (through the curated collections)… then to play with elements of it further (so as to consider options for future aesthetics).
For example, the Falling Blossoms corset gave rise to two bespoke commissions, plus a smattering of sample corsets (of which there are only two left). Through these delicious pieces I now have a couple of ideas for future blossom-based aesthetics.
And by playing with different gem stones and considering goldwork beading, I have new ideas for one or two future super-sparkly CCs, lightly based on the Where Angels collection.
In short, the projects give us a structure which helps create better work. This structure makes each project and corresponding sample sale sort of self-contained, unique and precious. Each style has its own shining moment, then it’s gone. That is to say, the special corsets you collect from us become even more special ❤
