Some bits and bobs for you.
Sometimes we make samplers for our bespoke clients. It mostly depends on whether the design has needed playing with to figure out. Sometimes clients are very clear on what they need, in which case samplers aren’t necessary. But they’re a lot of fun to do, I really enjoy seeing the surface embellishment in micro. This corset will be inspired by the symbolism of the Scarab beetle. Rebirth, self-creation, courage, transformation. It’s very personal to the client, naturally. We’ve combined darkly painted blossoms lace with duchess and electra beetle wings. There are a couple of duchess suggestions here, one paler and one darker. Which would you choose?
We tidied up our showroom the other day. It was still a bit of an explosion following our Seaglass Selkie photoshoot, but we had a photographer popping in to see the space before using it as a shoot location so it needed to be tidy. Tidying in and of itself is boring, of course, but it is fun setting out the dressed mannequins and enjoying the presentation of our work. Platinum and Icon above are such different pieces, but both very textural and lovely so they look good together.
This black box was originally made as a photography prop. The idea being that your model would be stood inside and the black surround would flag the light, making her emerge from the shadows. I’ve only properly played with it once, but it’s also good in this golden framed context. Originally I wanted to metal leaf the back panel so that the figure would be outlined by the reflective, glowing surface, even while the light was eaten up by the dark walls. Perhaps we’ll get round to it one day.
Jonah does look great surrounded by gold though. You might have spotted Jonah in the Winter Sale, but I’ve actually removed her from sale now. We’re considering re-working the design again, just for fun! She started as the Bird of Prey, became Jonah, what else could she become…?
These pictures were all first shared on my
Instagram. But I would only recommend following if you don’t mind your couture corsetry pictures interspersed with ponies, narrowboats, cats, and my boyfriend!
