Since we only have a couple of months left of the studio, I thought I’d share some of the pictures I’ve taken here over the past three years. Not loads, just a small handful of my favourites, though I’m sure there’s many more that I’ve forgotten.
I’m wondering what else we could do whilst we still have the studio. I’m lining up other people’s photoshoots, naturally, as I love seeing what different designers, models and photographers do with the space. But is there anything else I want to do, before the studio is gone?
I suppose I never quite nailed the classic girl-on-a-chaise shot… primarily because I don’t like my chaise’s fabric, so I just don’t use it as a prop that often. But Glo (InaGlo Photography) and I had always talked about doing a peony image using the chaise. Girl in a beautiful dress, peonies everywhere (covering the chaise that she’s lounging on), soft light…
And my rocking horse. I’ve used him a few times, but I’ve never quite nailed the high-contrast and tightly-cropped image that I have in my mind of a lingerie-clad model on his back. Perhaps that’s partly because I actually imagine that shot on a different or bigger horse, but there you go.
I don’t think I’ve done the archetypal floor-trait either, since our floor is not the most pretty or inspiring. But you know, that’s the best part about collaborating and sharing resources, other people see possibilities that you don’t.
TO BOOK THE STUDIO FOR A PHOTOSHOOT:
Just get in touch! Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays and some Sundays available, during August, September and October.
We have a couple of cheap-and-cheerful lights, but we really do recommend that photographers bring their own set-up. You can pull up outside to unload equipment, though we recommend that you then park your car in the Jewellery Quarter multi-storey (a 5min walk away).
£80 for a full day (9am-5pm), £40 for a half day (1pm-5pm). People who’ve used our studio before, if you quote the code “REMEMBER_ME?!” in your email subject title we’ll take £10 off your fee.
