The Moth corsets are my personal project for 2017/2018. Whilst the Butterflies are an opportunity to play with some richly opulent colours and embellishments (classics like black lace and sparkle), the Moths are intended as a cohesive collection of couture-level pieces that I hope to use in many photoshoots and possibly other projects (a book? an exhibition?) before finding them their forever homes.
Expressions of interest and possible reservations are welcome with up to three instalments possible, email to discuss: email@example.com
An overbust corset with smooth historically-inspired lines, made from a pure ivory duchesse. Embellishment to be discovered.
I imagining this piece to be as pure as snow. Looking at the textures of the Snowy Urola Moth (urola nivalis), I’m hoping to create a sense of soft powder with an underlying sheen. I’m hoping to layer ivory on ivory on ivory. Symmetric and intricate lace, both matte and iridescent seed beads, silky fringing emerging from beneath the branch-like lace placement, possibly some mother-of-pearl… Since I don’t usually opt for whites and ivories in my self-directed work, I’m looking forward to exploring that purity of palette with this corset.
