Contracts



Signing the contract shows that you have agreed to make a non-refundable payment of 40% of the total amount. If you cancel at any stage having signed the contract, this deposit is still payable. If you wish to make changes to the contract after signing (eg: changes to the garment design or fabrication), an amendment to that contract will be written up outlining those changes and specifying any extra monies payable. Sparklewren will only form contracts with those who are over 18 years of age, and will not produce corsets for anyone below this age.






Deposits & Payment Plans



A non-refundable deposit of 40% is required on all bespoke corsets. Work will not begin until this deposit has been paid. The balance is then payable as either one final payment of 60% or two payments of 30%. The total balance must be paid in full before an item can be posted. Please see Sparklewren’s etsy shop for T&Cs regarding ready-to-wear and sample pieces.






Confirmation



International/distance clients: It is assumed upon viewing the photographs, confirming via email, and making final payment that you are happy with the results. Having confirmed the garment is as required you cannot seek a refund unless the garment is not as shown when photographed and confirmed. Jenni reserves the right to photograph the garment on either a mannequin or fit model for future promotional purposes, unless otherwise agreed with the client.






Local clients: You will be required to sign a confirmation sheet at the final payment and collection. Having confirmed the garment is as required you cannot seek a refund.






Currency



Guide prices are listed in GBP, as are the prices in Sparklewren’s contracts. To check the current exchange rate please visit http://www.xe.com . Please note that etsy works in USD. Check prices and exchanges rates carefully before making a purchase.






Postage



For all clients: Sparklewren Corsets cannot be responsible for damage sustained during posting. Your corset will be delivered by Royal Mail and all postage costs are the responsibility of the client. PLEASE NOTE: international orders may be subject to Customs Charges, which Sparklewren cannot be responsible for. For local clients, of course, we can arrange a final fitting and cup of tea for when you collect your corset. The package will also include care and lacing instructions, though you may also refer to this page for information. Clients are welcome to pick up garments in person.






Measurements



Corsets made to your measurements without a mock-up presuppose that correct measurements have been provided. Sparklewren cannot be responsible if these measurements have resulted in an incorrect fit. If you have any reason to think your fit will be unusual or complicated, Jenni would recommend a returnable mock-up at only £60 extra, otherwise have a friend or seamstress assist you and refer to Sparklewren’s interactive measurements chart (downloadable PDF is available) to ensure your measurements are accurate.






PLEASE NOTE: If you have arranged a mock-up this will take up to an additional 1-4 weeks to complete before posting/fitting. Upon your receipt of the mock-up you have 2 weeks in which to take photographs and notes and post the item back in its packaging. A mock-up ensures a beautiful fit and is often recommended for overbust corsets since fitting the bust can be tricky, but it could delay the process by up to 6 weeks. If, however, you are confident that your measurements are accurate or you are purchasing a more simple piece (eg: waist cincher or underbust corset), a mock-up may not be necessary. Jenni produces many bespoke items without mock-ups which fit beautifully. Please consider your requirements carefully.






Fittings



For local clients who wish to have in-person fittings, these will be carried out either in Jenni’s home atelier or in a place of your choice (such as your own home). For the most luxurious garments, multiple fittings may be beneficial, allowing us to refine the pattern until it works perfectly with your body. This will be worked into the contract and overall cost of the garment.






Design Questions



Whether you are inspired by a piece in Sparklewren’s galleries or have a specific idea that you wish turning into a corset, do get in touch. Jenni loves new challenges and new designs, and is happy to create anything from heavily beaded, decadent overbust corsets to tight-lacing “rock-chic” underbusts.






Intellectual Property



Original patterns, mock-ups and completed garments remain the intellectual property of Jenni Hampshire trading as Sparklewren. Whilst style, design and construction elements are relatively similar throughout corsetry and therefore free to use by all, you cannot use these ‘specific items’ in order to produce replicas for sale or have those items re-made by other corsetieres/seamstresses. For example, you may not complete the design consultation, take away a copy of the contract, and ask a different seamstress to follow the design specified. Any patterns supplied are for your own personal, non-commercial use, and all mock-ups must be returned.






Potential Problems/Refunds



In the event that you are unhappy with the corset, please contact Jenni to discuss. To gain a refund the corset needs to be returned within 7 days of receipt, which would require proof of receipt, photographic documentation as to any flaws, and careful packaging when returning the item. The item must not have been worn (except to check fit), displayed, cleaned or the tags removed. Jenni truly does believe you will be 100% satisfied with your Sparklewren corset, but please be aware of these terms and conditions when placing your order. And please do remember that the 40% deposit is not refundable under any circumstances.






Privacy



As a Sole Trader, Jenni keeps details of each and every sale she makes, including name, billing address, shipping address, e-mail address, phone number, measurements and order history. Jenni will not share or distribute that information to any third parties, save where information must be used in order to post the finished items. You can opt in or out of the mailing list at any time simply by sending an email stating “Subscribe” or “Unsubscribe” to jenni(at)sparklewren(dot)co(dot)uk
